Night flight!

I had my first actual mission last night! Turns out it'll be my last for awhile. They're moving two of us from nights to days... that makes three reverse sleep cycles for me in 2 weeks! Needless to say, I'm a bit tired. But I'm happy about the change. It's not that I don't like flying at night, but it's much more difficult and tiring. Plus, it's a bit harder to take pictures at night. Here are a few of my attempts from our flight.

We were heading over a mountain range enroute to another LZ. The crew in the back was saying they saw a few fires up on the slopes... what a miserable time that must be! What on earth could be the reason people are camping out in the hills? Glad I wasn't born in Afghanistan!

Nevertheless, they're beautiful. I've never been to Alaska, but I'm assuming it looks similar. Minus the terrorists, of course!

Anyway, it was quite an interesting night. Some of the LZs we go to are nuts... just perched up on the tip of a mountain. No roads... they have to walk up the side to get there. They depend on the Chinooks to get their stuff to them. Pretty interesting!
